I did nothing special except use its patches Windows 8 was on a friend's computer and that was just adjusting graphics card settings. Windows 7 was like Windows Vista thus nothing but patches were done to get Star Trek Armada 1 to work. I would say you would be only person to test on windows 10? Since you are the only member to say they got armada 1 to work on windows 7 properly. Je_mezu24 wrote:So here's my question, has anyone upgraded to Windows 10 here, does Star Trek Armada 1 & 2 Of course it's really impossible to know if that is counting all my games I've mentioned or is really correct. So here's my question, has anyone upgraded to Windows 10 here, does Star Trek Armada 1 & 2/FleetOps, Star Trek Legacy and Star Trek Online actually work for them? If so (and thus the answer here is yes) what did you do or need to do to get these games to work on Windows 10? I'd like to know before officially taking "the plunge" and upgrading to Windows 10 after all according to the "Get Windows 10 App" for Windows 7 Home Premium my computer is good to go for the upgrade, it says "Apps: 0 Incompatible", "Data and files: Ready".

That's the last thing I want to happen since these are the only PC games I actually play. Now my number one fear is that after upgrading to Windows 10 is that Star Trek Armada I, Star Trek Armada II (along with FleetOps on the Armada II front) as well as Star Trek Legacy and Star Trek Online will not work on Windows 10.

I've actually hidden the Windows 10 Upgrade in Windows Update so I don't accidentally install it on my computer before I'm ready after all reserving your free copy is good for a year according to Microsoft so there's plenty of time to use it and take advantage of the free Windows 10 Upgrade.

Ok, with the official release of Microsoft's Windows 10 today, I'm not sure how many people like myself have actually reserved their free copy or have already installed/upgraded to Windows 10.Īs you may have guessed, yes, I have reserved my copy of Windows 10 and my computer, a laptop is already attempting to download and install Windows 10 to my HP Pavilion g7-1310us Notebook PC but I have been preventing it well backing up files, programs, music, pictures, videos, documents and mods before upgrading so I don't risk losing anything that I really want to keep. I hope that helps anyone that's been looking for a quick and practical solution to playing this awesome game on a newer computer.*First, I'm not sure if this would be the right spot to post this, so feel free to move it to the right section if needed.*

It should come up, the cinematics should start for the intro (but only if you have the disc image mounted, or the CD in the optical drive), the menus will be missing their animations, and also be in a small "windowed mode", but when you start up the actual gameplay, everything should be working perfectly :-). Under Miscellaneous I have "Bilinear blit stretch" checked, and everything else unchecked.Īfter that you can just click Apply/OK, and start up Armada.exe. Nothing is checked under "Texturing", resolution is set to "Unforced"īehavior, I have "Application controlled fullscreen/windowed state" checked and the other option unchecked. VideoCard - dgVoodoo Virtual 3D Accelerated Card VRAM 128MB Under the DirectX tab I have the following: I don't have anything in "Glide" Changed. Output API - Direct3D 11 (feature level 10.1)Īnd under Miscellaneous, I have "Keep Window Aspect Ratio" checked. I'm using the following settings in mine: So go ahead and open dgVoodooSetup.exe from within the Star Trek Armada Directory. So now you should have those 4 files in the Star Trek Armada installation directory.

Then you'll want to look in the folder named MS that was in the zip file and copy the three dll files

Now you'll want to copy dgVoodooSetup.exe to your Star Trek Armada Installation Directory. Once this is installed extract it on your desktop or somewhere else. I don't know that this is a requirement, but from what I've read during my research, it's better to install it outside of the program files directories, and to have a directory without spaces in the folder names. I installed it to G:\Games\StarTrekArmada for instance. Okay, so I spent about two years trying to find a solution to my dilemma, and I've finally found a way to run Star Trek Armada 1, in Windows 10, with all of the graphics settings set to their highest values (including resolution).įirstly, you want to install Star Trek Armada normally, however make sure your installation directory does not contain any spaces in the folder names.
